View Article  Skendlby Hall

Skendleby Hall is a large country house near Spilsby Lincolnshire, situated between Alford and Skegness.  The whole house can be hired out privately for parties, holidays, weddings and other special occasions.

This venue is perfect for those who prefer intimacy without the intrusion of hotel staff or a strict regime for your day.

Another appealing quality that the venue has to offer is that the Hall can sleep up to 20 people.

We covered chairs for Kevin and Margaret’s Wedding in September 08.  As you can see they chose our beautiful burgundy taffeta sashes – which have a wonderful Autumnal feel – they also went perfectly with the room decor with its rich dark wood and fabulous gold curtain swags.

The country house also has wonderful garden area and ample parking.

If you would like to view more images of the chair covers we set out for the civil service visit:

View Article  The Importance of Lighting

One of the most important things that a bride  and groom need to consider when choosing a venue is not to underestimate the effect that good lighting can have when entering a room.

If the room is light and airy, even if the weather on the day is drab and dreary, then a welcoming well dressed reception can feel like walking into a magical world.

Things to consider when choosing the right venue:

When first entering the room how much natural light can you see, good lighting can enhance most rooms.

What kind of lighting is in the room? ask the venue staff to show you the difference with lights on and off.

Are you considering having candles/candelabra?  How would this affect the room?

Does the venue have lots of windows, this can be a good indication of how effective a venue can look, if the curtains are drawn, do not be afraid to ask to have them open after all you are paying an arm and leg for the wedding of your dreams.

Visit the venue at least twice once during the day or on an evening, if you get the opportunity visit on a sunny day and on a dark cloudy day - after all the good British weather has a way of disappointing even during mid Summer.

Is there a carpet? If so does the darkness of the carpet of affect the atmosphere of the whole room?

Below are some examples of rooms with good lighting

Hemswell Court, Lincolnshire has lots of beautiful Georgian Windows with light beige curtains and fantastic natural wooden floorboards, with this in mind the room has the perfect atmosphere.

Marquee's let lots of natural light in due to the marquee fabric, with chair covers and sashes this can really add to that themed effect you are going for, and remember, you may have placed camera's on the tables for people to take pictures, try to help them get the best pictures of the bad dancing and grandma's new purple dress they can

The Sun Pavilion, Harogate has windows all around the room and a fabulous glass domed roof that makes this venue distinctive from any other.
